Barcelona, April 6, 2020.- Fundació Ordesa, a non-profit entity, wanted to do its part by showing its support for healthcare professionals, people affected by COVID-19 and other vulnerable groups. The entity has made a donation of medical supplies to Spain's Ministry of Health to help improve the protection of Spanish healthcare professionals who are treating patients affected by COVID-19. Specifically, it has made a donation of 30,000 FFP2 protective face masks, 90,000 nitrile gloves and 10,000 units of a hydroalcoholic solution, which will be distributed among different healthcare centres.
Additionally, Fundació Ordesa has donated more than 7,000 units of nutritional supplements made by the FontActiv brand to patients affected by COVID-19. The donation is intended for patients admitted to the IFEMA field hospital in Madrid who will receive said enteral nutrition products in order to help these patients recover.
On the other hand, the entity has also delivered more than 2,000 units of the same nutritional supplements that will be distributed among the nursing homes of the LARES group, which manages more than 1,000 centres and care services in Spain for the elderly people with special needs, the disabled or those at risk of social exclusion.
The donated products made by the enteral nutrition brand FontActiv provide a balanced diet and essential micronutrients in cases of weakness, fatigue, convalescence or increased nutritional needs, or especially in situations of risk and malnutrition associated with ageing.
In addition to these donations, Fundació Ordesa will distribute different amounts of formula and baby cereal, as well as food supplements through the Banco de Alimentos and other social entities to be distributed among families at risk of social exclusion.
"By contributing this material, Fundació Ordesa wants to show its support for the great work being done by healthcare professionals and to contribute to the care and recovery of people affected by COVID-19 and to those groups of people that are most vulnerable, such as the elderly or those with special needs, looking after their nutritional health, as well as to families at risk of social exclusion," according to Isolda Ventura, President of Fundació Ordesa.
